Hello! Nice to meet you!! :) I’m Carolin from Germany, and a fresh graduate from university.
I’m a very easy going, open-minded person who is curious about the world. I have visited almost 50 countries (I stopped counting) and realized that solo-traveling has a very positive impact on my personal growth! But I also enjoy to travel with friends in smaller groups :)
I love music, grew up with lots of classical music as my parents are professional musicians (clarinetist/conductor). Also, I have played in orchestras and Jazz bands for many years of my life. So usually when I travel I try to go to concerts, it makes me feel at home.
Last year, I started to learn kitesurfing and during COVID I fell in love with roadbiking which I did a lot during my online semester abroad in Portugal.
I am also trying to evolve my creative side more, I have been learning pottery for a year already and started renting a studio to pursue it more and more. Maybe I will screw my corporate career at some point and just open a pottery studio? Who knows :D
In April 2023 I travelled through Mexico for a whole month and ate hundreds of delicious Tacos. I was in a Café in Mexico city where I randomly started talking to a woman from Korea and I found out she is an artist. A bit later I asked her if she can teach me her techniques and we spent a beautiful morning painting together. This inspired me to paint more and now I have taken my watercolors on the trip to get more inspiration from the foreign culture and landscapes.

I've been thinking a lot about the purpose of traveling, now that I'm taking a few months before starting a new job. And I realized, if you don't make an effort, it can become a bit dull and boring. So my mission is therefore to meet and interact with many locals as this gives me energy and purpose in my journey. I believe that every person I meet can inspire me in some way and teach me something while I can also give back by sharing my opinions and experiences. That's the reason why I want to focus more on couchsurfing to have a very authentic travel experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I think I'm the only person in my group of friends who doesn't watch series. The problem is, I get addicted so easily that it would be dangerous to start. And actually I love to live in the moment and create my own stories vs. just passively watching other people's stories.

I am happy to give you advice for your future travel plans as I've traveled and seen a lot of the world already. Also, I am an expert for hidden gems in Germany, beautiful and authentic places that not many tourists find in Germany.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Of course I'll be happy to cook for you (I'm a pro in cooking vegetables & summer salads!) and of course I will buy you some beers that we can drink together as a thank you for having me over.
Be prepared for some wild travel stories, but I also enjoy to have deep and meaningful conversations as I'm a very self-reflected and self-aware person.
