Overview
About Me
I am a single mom of a teenage boy. I'm in the process of rebuilding my career. I am passionate about teaching and learning. I actually tutor in many subject areas, but the majority of my experience is in helping children who struggle with reading.
I am a third generation Colorado native, who loves the outdoors and our fabulous geography from mountains to desert canyons.
I consider myself to be intelligent, upbeat, curious, compassionate, friendly, passionate, and open-minded. I am an information hound. I attend to several good, solid, credible news sources. It goes hand-in-hand with my love of learning.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I traveled a great deal when I was younger and would like to make it happen again, even though it's not necessarily in my budget. Meeting people is part of what I enjoy about travel. In addition, I hope to see more and experience more. In all of this, I want my son to learn and grow with the experience of meeting a wide variety of people. Plus, I hope to get both of us outdoors more and enjoying some of the beauty Colorado has to offer.
Interests
I love cooking, learning, teaching, gardening, exploring, walking, hiking, traveling, relaxing with a good book or watching a movie.
I love the mountains, but I love to be around water too.
I spend too much time thinking about serious stuff. I need to get outside, have some fun, and make some more friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite books: Les Miserables, Tale of Two Cities, and many, many others... I have read so many books, that it is difficult to think of a favorite. The two above just really stayed with me from my younger years.
Favorite movies: Schindler's List, Gladiator, The King's Speech, The Help, but also enjoy romance, comedy, and action movies. I really get sucked into documentaries!!! I was caught by a good one about the earth from space just this week on PBS.
I enjoy alternative (97.3, 93.3), classic rock, classical, country, new age, folk, bluegrass... As for radio, NPR is another favorite.
I love good food from bar food to five star food. I'm fairly passionate about dessert, but desserts aren't loving me.
I really enjoy finding small family/individually owned restaurants rather than all the chains out in the burbs where I live.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's not as amazing now, but when I was in my 20's it was less common for a female. I spent three months traveling alone across Europe. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
