I am a student at UC Berkeley, but have family in New Jersey and Long Island. I study Anthropology and love reading and talking with people. I have traveled a fair deal since my father is originally from Holland, but am hoping to travel more in the United States in the coming years. I hope to go to graduate school for Education Policy.

I am on couchsurfing because I love to have genuine experiences in the places I visit. I love to have access to a kitchen and to be able to talk to local people in the places that I travel. So much of what it is really like to live in a place happens in a home, and that is why I think the idea of couchsurfing is so cool.

My favorite music is The Killers, Ed Sheeran, One Direction (and all of their respective careers at this point haha), the Lumineers, and basically all kinds of music. I love sharing music with people because it is cool to see how passionate people can get about it!

I am not big on the movie front, but I love the Pirates of the Carribean series and any television show that you can find on HBO.

I read a lot, so have a new favorite book every so often. I am currently getting into non-fiction, but like thought-provoking fiction like 'Beloved' and 'Kafka on the Shore' (those are the books I am reading right now, so ask me in two weeks and I will have new favorites!).

I once took a train from California to New Jersey. Though my neck hurt from sleeping upright when it was over, it was a really cool experience to see the country that way and talk to the people on the train.
