Overview
About Me
¡Hola! Soy Caroline. I'm a university Spanish professor in Alaska at the farthest north university in North America! When I'm not teaching español, I love cross country skiing, fat tire biking, mountain biking, hiking, and generally wandering around outside. I also like to escape the sub Arctic winter from time to time!
CURRENT MISSION:
I'm in Madrid to reunite with my favorite city in the world, then headed to FiSahara (a film festival in Algeria that takes place in the refugee camps for the Sahrawi people of Western Sahara), and back to Madrid again.
PHILOSOPHY
Be love. Or at the very least, be nice.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Honestly, Couchsurfing has renewed our faith in humanity more than we could've expected. We've met the loveliest, most open-minded, considerate people from so many places and walks of life and with all kinds of different points of view. It's funny how such a varied group can have so much in common.
Interests
Traveling (obviously), music, reading, writing, dancing, taking pictures, cooking, running, virtual reality, yoga, board games, laughing, learning, meeting new friends, trying new things, teaching and speaking Spanish, practicing Portuguese, climbing things, having fun every single day.

Music, Movies, and Books
Yes, I like all three of those things :P
Narrowing this one down is impossible, especially because I'm always finding something new to love. In general, Guster is my eternal all-time favorite band, and with regards to reading, Don Quijote is one of my favorites, and sort of the raison d'être of my academic pursuits.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I drove from Tennessee to Alaska with my two cats... And wild camped in a rooftop tent all the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
We love sharing our home and our town with you, and we especially like if we have the chance to cook a meal or mix a few cocktails together. Caroline is happy to help you practice your Spanish and/or would love if you'd help her out with her Portuguese.
One thing that bums me out is when folks are only looking for a free place to crash in our adorable city and aren't about the CS magic--human interaction and mutual respect. Even if your visit is midweek, we still like to learn what we can about you and your adventures, so we hope you'll take the time to learn about us and leave us a personal note when you request to stay here. And if you made it this far, including the word porcupineapple will help us prioritize your request :D bonus points if you draw it or use it in a sentence (we don't know what it means but Caroline made it up and it made her giggle, so there's that)...
