ABOUT ME

I'm quite chatty - I I've to discuss everything from the weather to politics, often in more than one language. I've always enjoyed meeting new people and I'm far too generous (apparently). I like good food, good wine, good books and good films. I have one cat; a partner and kids hasn't materialised yet.... Make of that what you will!

PHILOSOPHY

You can always push long socks down, but you can't push long socks up.

Never send a ferret to do a weasel's job.

If it all seems overwhelming, make a list, like bowling pins, then knock em down, one by one.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just joined couch surfing, but it's been recommended to me. Sounds like a lot of fun for someone used to hostelling. I really hope to host people as well.

Interests

I'm a cyclist and I speak some foreign languages. I've travelled around Europe and some of the Eastern Seaboard in the US and to Vancouver, BC. I like reading, history, some shopping, cooking (food in general), good conversation. I like to knit, sew and embroider in my spare time. And baking. I also love cats, particularly my own.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: Star Trek, Star Wars, Fifth Element, Some Like It Hot, It's a Wonderful Life, Galaxy Quest, Mystery Men, Mansfield Park, Sense and Sensibility
Music: if I like it, I like it, but particularly something with a bit of a rock to it and some nice guitar. I'm currently listening to Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Kacey Musgrave and Classic American rock. I also like opera. I'm afraid I don't see the point of Justin Bieber.
Books: Most of Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, The Game of Thrones series, Lindsey Davis (Roman PI mysteries), Charlaine Harris and boring (but not to me) historical costume research stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'll avoid the ones that avoid booze here (for another time....).

The single most amazing thing I have ever done is go whale watching off the Massachussetts Coast two years ago. We saw in excess of 20 humpback and minke whales.

My mind was blown and I was totally humbled and awed by the power of nature in these beautiful, gentle giants. Truly touched my soul.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like meeting open-minded people, of all ages, from all over the world. I am not averse to hostelling. I really like an opportunity to engage in foreign languages as well, even though my skills are not what they used to be.
