ABOUT ME

I am a wandering soul with a passion for painting and cooking. I love to read and write. I am close to my family and a few friends but like connecting with a place or people for a time and then leaving with fondness in our hearts. I like I get people talking and listen. Storytelling of all kinds is my favorite. I have spent several months or more living in spots in many countries around the world, including my native one, and feel every time I learn more.

Things I am a nerd about include: storytelling, urban exploration, podcasts, beer, cocktails. Food, feminism, activism, and cats.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a secular feminist with strong beliefs and practices about the environment and social issues, but if you are not a bigot, I love to laugh with most anyone.

I don't travel as much these days but I like to use CS or airbnb when I do-- depends on the location or how I want to connect with people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in Peru and hosted in Chicago. I also use Airbnb a lot/used to host for Airbnb. I love the exchange.

Interests

Cooking, eating, trying all the food. Drinking all the beers, wines, and cocktails (in setting-appropriate moderation). Swimming, hiking, biking, and backpacking. Art of all kinds. Magical realism. Anything an individual is passionate about-- teach me about what you love?

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: not a big movie person. I enjoy watching movies with people who are really passionate about film and are excited to watch them. Otherwise I find it a rather dull and disconnected activity, personally.

Music: I LOVE music festivals. It is very magical to go amongst thousands and have your musical minds blown. I will enjoy just about any music in this setting. For my personal listening I love Americana, folk, blues, and related music.

Books: to many to name. When I was a kid and preteen I would read ten books a week. I usually average one or two a week now, being busier. Reading has always been my relaxation, my escape, and my solo entertainment. If I could name one category it would be "critically acclaimed fiction". That is books that are well written but still accessible nog to be liked by the masses like me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being alive is more amazing than I could imagine. I am happy every day to just be here and have some amazing experiences along the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach bread baking, American cuisine, some Greek, Indian, and Mexican cuisine, painting with egg tempera or other media, and drawing. I would love for anyone to teach me about the food, drinks, art, and natural beauty of their country or area.
