ABOUT ME

I grew up in a Toronto, Canada, and am fluent in English, and Chinese. I am currently at the Université de Montréal, where I am doing a master's degree in piano performance. I also studied French for 8 years in school, and have studied German for 4 years. My hobbies include art, reading, running, and physics.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I heard about this wonderful Site while trying to find a place to stay in Munich, after one of my travel arrangements fell through. I was already on the train, catapulting from Vienna, and unable to find literally /any/ hotels to replace the arrangement (a couch-surfing host who disappeared from the face of this site) I had before. I was desperate, and just hoped I would have a safe roof over my head for a night. Within those 7 hours, several kind hosts at CS offered their help. In the end, I ended up sharing a room with 2 other surfers (from the UK and Korea), as well as the most wonderful, kind, and intelligent host. We discussed philosophy, math, music, travels, and the World Cup (Germany won that day). Though the accommodations were improvised, the friendship I had built there has been amongst the most treasured of my memories. Honestly, I am so glad I did not end up in a hotel.

I really love the concept of traveling to a new place not only to be a tourist, but to more deeply understand its people by exchanging culture and living with the locals. I can't wait to have more of these insightful adventures. As well, I would love to give back by hosting and making friends with fellow travelers.
