Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My husband and I are looking to meet fun, interesting people while we travel.
ABOUT ME
I work as a nurse at a hospital in Honolulu and my husband is an officer in the Navy. We got stationed in Hawaii, so we recently moved out here from the East Coast. We both love spending time outdoors with our dog, tasting delicious new beers and making new friends. In my free time, I am skating and learning the ways of roller derby, hiking, painting my house, or hanging out at the beach.
PHILOSOPHY
Something that I have long been working on is surrendering the illusion that I can control my life or my experiences. In truth, I make choices, and things happen. Part of what appeals to my husband and I about CouchSurfing is degree of chance that it brings to our travels. We aren't interested in traveling around the world to see life in other countries: we want to experience it. Meeting new people and spending time with them gives us the chance to get a feel for a place in way that we just can't get if we're staying in a hotel.

Music: The Smiths, Talking Heads, Future Islands, Beach House, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, anything dancey/indie/folky. We like all kinds of movies. Books we've read recently: The Help, Power of One, Black Boy, East of Eden and Ishmael -- trying to catch up on actually reading all of the books we own/have borrowed.

When I was in college I wanted to be a midwife, so I spent a few weeks in the Dominican Republic helping mothers give birth in a small community hospital.
