Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Explore the world, share my experiences and learn from those who are so much wiser than I am.
ABOUT ME
I am adventurous and athletic and love getting in touch with the outdoor world through canoeing whitewater rivers, backpacking and hiking, skiing and scuba diving. There are tons of wonders to experience around every corner.
PHILOSOPHY
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."- Mark Twain
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love Couchsurfing because of the richness it can bring to travel experiences. There is something about staying with a local who knows the best places to go, knows what events might be going on (that you'd otherwise not know about), and can help immerse you deeper into the culture of an area, while also being a local contact and friend that can help you navigate the new and unknown.
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am interested in hosting, surfing and doing activities with others. But I am also willing to venture into trying something I haven't done before.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In Jan 2012, I hosted some folks from San Francisco for the first time. I had a wonderful experience doing this and have enjoyed hosting others since then. I look forward to more of the same. I surfed for my first time in Curaçao, May 2012, and was blown away by the great couchsurfing community there. Thanks to Couchsurfing, it made my traveling experience oh so rewarding and pleasurable.
Interests
I love spending time outdoors at home in the garden/yard but I especially like finding new places to explore through scuba diving, backpacking/hiking, and canoeing. If I am indoors, it is fun to get out on the dance floor and dance to any music. Winter sports like snow skiing are a blast!

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite all time movie is "The Princess Bride". I love all kinds of music and enjoy volunteering at music venues in Austin, TX as we have the nickname of the "Live Music Capitol of the World"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
How awesome couchsurfing is! It opens up an incredible way to meet folks and to extend a helping hand to strangers who then become friends with new beginnings for both to explore. I never thought I would ever be caught dead backpacking on a glacier. But I did it and all thanks to couchsurfing as it was an experience that I will treasure forever.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have been canoeing for 36 years now. If you want to try this, we can go out and I will show you the ropes and why I love it so much. I also love playing kayak/canoe polo and we have all the gear you need to come play with us down here in Austin, Texas year around! I have been on the US National Whitewater Slalom Canoe team and Kayak Polo Teams where I have been lucky enough to compete at the World Championships in both sports.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My love for canoeing and being outdoors in general. I enjoy cooking as well and can whip up something for you. Come stay with me if I am not too busy and we can enjoy some fun activity together!
