Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Luís, originally from Portugal and currently living in the East Fjords of Iceland. My work and volunteer experiences have taken me around the world, from Portugal to Armenia, and beyond. I love immersing myself in different cultures and exploring new places.
Music is a big part of my life—I played tenor saxophone in a youth orchestra and always enjoy sharing the joy of live music. Traveling for me is not just about the places, but about the people I meet and the stories we exchange.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow travelers, sharing experiences, and discovering new perspectives!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe in the power of cultural exchange and creating connections across borders. Through my travels and work on various international projects, I've learned that the best way to understand a place is through its people. Couchsurfing offers an amazing opportunity to meet locals and fellow travelers, share stories, and discover new perspectives. I love the idea of contributing to a global community that values trust, generosity, and open-mindedness.
Interests
I'm passionate about exploring different cultures and how art can bring about social change. My work has taken me to many places, including Armenia, Ukraine, and Colombia, where I've been involved in arts, performance, and youth projects. Aside from traveling and cultural projects, I love being in nature, hiking, and soaking in beautiful landscapes. I'm also a big fan of live music and always up for a jam session or an evening of great conversations over coffee or a good meal.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I’ve done was co-founding ESCOLA-ESTÚDIO RAIZVANGUARDA, a project-based, interdisciplinary platform for artists and creative thinkers. Along with a friend, we created this residency program in Portugal to provide a space for individuals or small groups to bring their creative projects to life—whether it’s writing, filmmaking, curating exhibitions, or starting a new publication. The residency offered a unique environment where participants could immerse themselves in the region's rural atmosphere while developing their work. It was incredibly rewarding to see the creative outcomes and collaborations that have emerged from the residencies.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always excited to learn about different cultures, languages, and local traditions, and I'd love to share my experiences of living in various countries. I believe that every conversation is an opportunity to learn something new, and I’m always eager to exchange ideas and experiences with the people I meet.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer good company, interesting stories from my travels, and insights into the world. I also love cooking and would be happy to share a meal with you. Whether it's playing some music, sharing travel tips, or helping out around the house, I’m happy to contribute however I can!
