Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've done a lot of hostels in my time, and I think this would be a fun opportunity to meet people who live in the area I'm staying and get a local perspective on fun things to do rather than the traditional 'traveler's perspective'.

Interests

I'm a big fan of sci-fi, board games, video games, fantasy, anime, and snowboarding. Generic geeky stuff. I'm also getting into playing ice hockey and playing competitive pinball. Oh yeah, and traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of metal, but I'm open to all types of music. I used to play trombone in the jazz band and I like listening to offbeat electronic music.

I don't have a favorite movie, it's hard to pick one, but I really like documentaries and thrillers. Lately I was enthralled by Jodorowsky's Dune and Memories of Murder.

My favorite book series is probably A Song of Ice and Fire, I really enjoy the world-building. Followed closely by Kingkiller Chronicles, another fantasy series. Less fantasy-oriented books I loved were 'Into the Wild' by Krakauer and 'The Road' by McCarthy, two books that actually brought me to tears.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favorite thing I've done is seeing Chernobyl and the aftermath of the disaster that occurred there.
