About Me

My name is Caspar and after finishing my Master’s degree in Robotics, I’m currently on a cycling tour exploring the Americas (Bad Bunny's definition of America)

I mostly used Warmshowers before (a hospitality exchange network for touring cyclists), but since it’s not very widespread in some cities, I tried Cuchsurfing for the first time in Mexico City and had a really, really good experience with it!

Since I’m on the road right now, I can’t host, but as it’s a give-and-take community, I definitely plan to open my doors to travelers once I’m back home, as I’ve also done for a bunch of cyclists with the Warmshowers network at my hometown in Vienna, Austria.

I’m generally a pretty calm guy, but I love to laugh. Live, Laugh, Love. LOL. I know it’s unbelievably corny, banal, and kitschy (in German we say 'abgedroschen'), but I don’t know - my guilty pleasure is that, in the bottom of my heart, I love these phrases. I think social interactions are, after food, a house, and health, the most important thing in a human life. So, I would be more than happy to count you among the social interactions I’m lucky enough to experience in my life."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There’s no better way to explore a new country or city than by getting to know the people who live there. Sharing stories, perspectives, and everyday life gives you an experience no guidebook ever could. I think these kind of hospitality exchange networks are a beautiful way of bringing our world together by connecting people from different cultures together through openness, trust, and genuine human connection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

you can checkout my website: www.jodok.cc where I write about my current trip on my bicycle.
And being part of the Vienna Boys Choir (2009-2013) and living one year in San Ignacio de Velasco (Bolivia) (2017/18) are probably the other two big experiences I made in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a huge fan of the learning software Anki, and I’m happy to convert everyone I meet! I just have to make sure I don't preach about it too much. That probably implies that I'm quite a geek/nerd in other areas, too. First and foremost: bicycles (and everything related to them), movies, the note-taking software Obsidian, tinkering with my split-keyboard, I wrote my Master Thesis about controlling drones, 3D Printing, etc.

Beyond all the nerdy stuff, I'm really interested in learning more about human relations and social interactions, as I believe they are the foundation for a happy life. Since it's not exactly something you can learn just from theory, I figure this platform is the best place for it.
