About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'd like to travel the world, before settling down!

ABOUT ME

Oh my goodness, what do I say? I guess I'm a sweet girl who loves to see new things, explore new places, and meet new people. I make friends easily and give generously. It's my delight to see the people around me smile. I love to dance, run, and take pictures. I absolutely adore my family: my parents, my 6 siblings, my nephew, and my cats. They're all so dear to me!

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life for God. I'm a devout Christian and live every second for Jesus. That means that I work on things like love (for everyone!), patience, thoughtfulness, self-control, gentleness, compassion, peace, honesty, and the like. I try to emulate Jesus as much as possible. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As of right now, I'm spreading awareness of the CS project to all of my friends. We're thrilled to be able to participate and exchange cultural awareness.

Currently, I live with my parents. However, once I'm established in Boston, I would absolutely love to host people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never been CouchSurfing before, but would love to start! Hopefully, this winter will be my first experience!

Interests

I love food, dancing, running, exploring, meeting new people, seeing people smile, telling stories, taking pictures, studying the brain, and learning new things. I love interacting with people and figuring out what makes them tick. Once I know that, I know how to make them smile!

Music, Movies, and Books

Pride and Prejudice (book and movie), Sense and Sensibility (book and movie, again!), Emma (ditto), Harry Potter (all books and movies... except for maybe the 5th book. That wasn't my favorite.), Lord of the Rings (the trilogy - books and movies), live music: jazz, bluegrass, dancing music, big band, etc., Michael Buble, Taylor Swift, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin...

I think I have too many likes to name here, but I've included the few that came to mind the fastest!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most fun things I've ever done was cliff jumping. It took me a little while to warm up to the idea, but once I did, it was fantastically fun. My family went vacationing in Maine one summer and we went to the local watering hole. There were some cliffs that overlooked a deep basin where the locals jumped. I had to watch some local men do it before I could muster the courage, but I did it! Forty feet of falling goes much faster than you'd think!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've learned that people have different ways about them, even within a country. From living down south and up north, every group of people interacts a different way. In order to learn to blend in and not offend people, you have to learn the norms of the area.

For instance, Bostonians generally will not acknowledge your presence unless you make yourself known. They don't look you in the eye unless you stop them, and sometimes not even then. They're not unfriendly, just cautious. They assume that if you're a stranger and start talking to them, you're going to either (a) ask for money or (b) ask for a favor. Once you let them know you're not doing either, they get friendly! That is... if they have the time. People are in such a hurry these days.

However, Georgia is vastly different. People down there are outwardly friendly. The only thing you need in common to start a conversation is proximity. Don't let that fool you, though. Be on your guard. Although these people are outwardly friendly, they may harbor other intentions and talk about you behind your back. I've met people who didn't like me just because they thought I was from up north.

These are gross generalizations, though. Not everyone from a particular area acts like this. They're stereotypes, and one must keep that in mind.

How do the people in your area act?
