About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see, learn, and take in as much as we can, make friends and better understand the world.

ABOUT ME

We are travelling for 12 months or so before we settle down and buy a house and all that grown up stuff. So far we have not done a whole lot with ourselves besides schooling and saving for our trip (this trip is changing that). We enjoy learning new things, so attempt to find time to play guitar (Doug) and sing (Cat) and struggle with learning Spanish.

PHILOSOPHY

Be generous with your knowledge, you never know what people may do with it.

Surround yourself with good energy - whether it be people, places, animals, 'things', activities - and you will feel happier and more fulfilled at the end of the day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently we are just travelling, seeing as much as we can and meeting lots of lovely people. Once we settle down and get a place we can look at hosting couchsurfers and showing them a bit of where we live. We hope to have had a bit of experience from surfing to make good hosts ourselves.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has been a wonderful experience. Our hosts have always been generous, funny and kind people who have gone out of their way for us. We have really enjoyed meeting their friends and family and getting a feel of the local area.

Interests

We love to cook, we love music (though creating it is more enthusiasm than talent) and we love to eat.
Doug is into video games and anime and has a history playing all sorts of nerdy games.

Cat is developing more of an interest in self-sustainability and permaculture the more we travel and learn.

We both love languages however struggle to find the time to truly learn them. We both really want to learn Spanish and are hoping that a month dedicated Spanish school in Ecuador will help get us on our way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Falling asleep in a Buddhist monastery in Vietnam after getting there on mopeds driven by locals and eating an awesome lunch with the monks.

Seeing a flock of pink flamingos take off in Doňana National Park.

Assisting in catching baby turtles after a wild hatching in Borneo and releasing them into the ocean after data collection. Such strong little flippers/feet/claws they have.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always interested in teaching people about cooking or learning more about it.
Doug would be only too happy to teach you or learn about anything nerdy.

We have many skills but maybe we need to learn what we can teach.
