Overview
About Me
I love to write and tell stories and I find the more adventures I have the easier those things become.
I am trying to be a seize-the-moment kind of gal; although I tend to be a seize-the-cake kind of gal instead.
I have been told I am an excited sort of person, maybe a bit overwhelming at first, but I promise that once you get to know me a little that I am friendly and fun! :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
cliché cliché cliché! I love to travel, to meet people, to have new experiences. I can't stand the idea of wasting my time on this beautiful earth and not seeing any of it. I really like to dig deep into the places I'm visiting: see lots of aspects; eat lots of food; learn a little of the lingo. The best way to get to know a city is through the people in it.
Last year I met an amazing Spanish family online and went to live with them as an au-pair. I enjoyed waking up in this new, foreign place every day but unfortunately I don't have the time for it this summer.
I love to show off my lively city, always giving visiting friends my patented Catherine tour.
Interests
Languages, Literature, Laughter! Museums over galleries but a fan of both. I love food, to cook but mainly enjoy the expertise of others. I'm happiest absorbing all the smells of a busy kitchen. Garlic. Climbing up hills. Walking through the Scottish countryside. Going to the theatre and then, a little less. being in theatre! (I was a member of the Scottish Youth Theatre). Pub Quizzes. Just going for a wander..

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't really have a favourite type of any of these. At the moments I listen to Chvrches, Alt-J, Passenger, Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran, Jamie-T, Madonna and Meatloaf (my mum has had a strong influence in that one).
I like character driven films that are maybe a bit whimsical like Wes Anderson's stuff and Amélie. When I was 8 I would watch Titanic every Saturday night. Bit of a romantic. Although I will really watch anything, to try everything once!
Books-wise I have to admit to being a fan of the odd chick-lit - as well as all the terribly worthy stuff of course. I study English Literature so my life is all about books! I have read and enjoyed Emilia Pardo Bazán, Márquez, Jane Austen, Daphne du Marier...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I feel like I've done lots of little amazing things that felt amazing to me but don't seem that amazing on paper...
When I was 16 I traveled with a friend to Spain in order to volunteer at a summer camp that teaches Spanish teens English. It is called "Diverbo", if anyone is interested, and I would highly recommend it.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - English (although I've met a lot of fluent non-natives who could teach me a thing or too), Creative Writing, Scottish slang and how to make tablet or shortbread.
Learn - Anything and everything.
What I Can Share with Hosts
