About Me

I'm a Postgraduate student of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Sussex, Brighton. I would love to visit as many places and meet as many people as possible around the UK. I can't wait to explore the world as I haven't seen much outside of India.

I'm an introvert who loves her quiet time. I like making new friends too as I'm trying to break out of my shell.

I feel like I've just started experiencing life and have a long way to go! I have a very long "to-do" list.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard from people who have done Couchsurfing, that it's a really neat experience and fun too. This way I can see new places without burning a hole in my pocket, and at the same time get to meet some pretty awesome people. It's a win-win situation. What a wonderful way to meet locals and to get to see a place from a completely different perspective!

It's time I started getting out of my comfort zone and started experiencing new things.

Interests

I'm passionate about books, all kinds but I have a soft spot for fiction. I love writing stories, articles and poems, and I'm an amateur illustrator :) I love experimenting in the kitchen, and I believe I can put together a decent meal. Indian and Chinese cuisines are my favorite, though I can live on pizza too. What else? Umm, I'm a die-hard Game of Thrones and The Newsroom fan!

I spend hours searching for intelligent and good articles, features and videos, though I spend as much time watching "The Voice" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" videos on YouTube too :P

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a huge list for movies and books. If I had to pick one for movies, I'd say Pursuit of Happyness is my to-go movie. Se7en is a close second. I can't stand horror movies. I absolutely hate them.

The best books I've ever read have to be The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I'm also a huge Khaled Hosseini fan. Love all his books!

I feel so bad not mentioning my other books and movies :(

I ignored the music bit because I don't have any particular favorites. I should mention Coldplay though not just because I really like their music, but because I love the lyrics they use.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I know it doesn't sound like much but it took a lot of guts for a person like me to come so far away to study, and that too to study something very different from my previous degree (in Computer Science and Engineering). It was pretty amazing for me to finally take a step in the direction of what I figured out I wanted to do with my life.

(Sorry, I know it sounds boring, but it is what it is.)

Teach, Learn, Share

Open-mindedness, humour and kindness are the best things ever.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of friendly smiles and chatter :)
Intelligent conversation about various topics.
If the host is a book or/ and movie crazy, that would mean never ending discussions :D
I can cook them a lovely meal (Be warned, the menu will mostly consist of Indian food) :)
Quiet, if that is what they want.

I'm quite neat and clean, so I won't mess anything up (I might even leave it cleaner than it was before :P).
