I'm a social worker in the field of child protection. It's a stressful job so I'm currently on sabbatical from work, which gives me an opportunity to travel - my number one passion. So, I flew to Moscow on 1st September and have been mainly overlanding since then.

As well as travel, I love Crossfit and am a member of Dragon Crossfit Cardiff. I am also leaning Krav Maga and Spanish. I have two dogs and a cat (I'm an animal lover) and I enjoy taking the dogs for long walks in the countryside, especially the Brecon Beacons. I'd love to try some long distance trails at some point.

I love food, home cooked and eating out, and enjoy a cold beer occasionally.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel! I love the feeling of being in a new town and I love getting to know a place and learning about life there. That's why couchsurfing is ideal for me, because staying with local people will give me the best insight into life in that place. I hope to be able to reciprocate that to others at my home in Cardiff.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: varied really - bnl, green day, great big sea, third eye blind, pink.... random huh?!

Movies: Not a huge movie fan. I like things with a historical context line Rabbit Proof Fence or Tsotsi.

Books: Roots, The Kite Runner, Chris Stewart books..... Again pretty varied but I like historical or travel themed books, but nothing heavy or dry.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've travelled quite a lot so may be able to advise in this respect. Happy to share info about life in the UK. I could help with English language practice if desired.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Animal care - especially house pets like dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits (outside and house), chickens, fish (marine, tropical and cold water) - all of which I have previous experience of caring for. I would be confident to care for outdoor animals like pigs and horses if given instructions.

House keeping - I own my home in Cardiff so am well able to manage a house and keep it clean. I rented for years so know how home owners like their property to be treated by guests and tenants.

Assistance with businesses - I'm a fast learner and can put my hand to most things with instructions. I could help with running a shop or a bar/restaurant as I have worked in both retail and hospitality previously.

I am a qualified first aider and spent four years working as a lifeguard as a teenager so am pretty useful in emergencies.
