About Me

Hello! I'm Cayla. Simply speaking, I love all things food and music. I am a farmer, I love to cook, and am involved in a local music collective. I love all types of art and am an amateur film photographer. I have lived in Vermont for 8 years which hardly makes me a local (if you ask a REAL Vermonter) but I definitely feel like one. I ride my bike most places and like to practice keeping it fixed up myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Right now I'm on a road trip with one of my best friends from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Although this is a new couchsurfing account (somehow lost track of my last one! maybe another email... hmmm....) I have both hosted and been hosted by some very seriously cool people both in the US and abroad. I enjoy sharing meals, stories, skills, and homes, which is why I'd much prefer to be on Couchsurfing, AirBnb, WWOOF, HelpEx, etc. than booking a hotel room.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: the weirder the better. mainly independent Northeast USA bands. Ask me! I will make you a playlist. All-time favorites include Cranberries, Kate Bush, Pixies, Built to Spill, the Kinks. I have a guilty pleasure of listening to country music while I drive.

Movies: Wes Anderson, Pedro Almodovar, David Lynch, Coen brothers, Tarantino, etc.

Books: Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Dostoevsky, Murakami.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel lucky to have done many amazing things, both big and little. This year's highlight would probably be catching a ride with my good friend Christine on the back of her motorcycle for a windy drive through the dreamy mountains of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom on a perfect late summer evening. It was my first time on a motorcycle and so naturally I had to buy my own.........
