About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I plan on visiting my kids throughout the world and visiting as many countries as I pobbibly can in my lifetime, wearing out my shoes and passports

ABOUT ME

I am a happily retired teacher who loves to travel, meet people and work in my huge garden (complete with screened in gazebo, 3 ponds and a maze). It really would be nice if I stayed at home during the growing seasons, but . ,. . Be prepared to enter a house that is definitely a drop point for stuff as I race on to another adventure. I fully believe in detours to do something. Here on live on the west side of Michigan and I have driven to the Detroit airport to take a guest there for a flight, but have gone by way of Niagara Falls and Frankenmuth, turning in a 360 km trip into one of about 1600 km.

PHILOSOPHY

You cannot do it if you do not try. There is also something written by Edwin Markham - In Brotherhoof - "There is a destiny that makes us brothers, none goes his way alone., all that we send into the lives of others, comes back into our own."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to travel and know that (1) people can do more if the spend less on things like a place to hang their hat for the night. Through the exchange program we did things like "ceeereal bowl and floor" and there have been times when I have had 32 people here for a weekend of fun and working on a yearbook. I love to meet new people, have new experiences and by participating in CS I can help others and learn about new places to go and things to see - and do it on the "cheap.'

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS has been with exchange families and friends in the past, however there was one occasion when we had a car breakdown in Nova Scotia and complete strangers took us in for the night and made us welcome in their home, something I will never forget, even though it was half a century ago. I also use a bed and breakfast network of educators for places to hang my hat.

Interests

I love to travel, meet new people, read, garden, camp, knit, swim, see new things, cook, just live life to its fullest.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy mystiries, thrillers, comedies and the Harry Potter books. Generally the same holds true for books and movies. I am now using audio books because of deteroriating eyesight

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Its hard to pick just one amazing thing but as an experience, I guess it would be go up in a hot air balloon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to share my skills and intersts in just about everything from A to Z and learn in return. Experiment with new ways of cooking, use my Thai grill, fix a kazakah meal, learn other ways to do something
