ABOUT ME

Grew up in a really small town in Texas (2,000 people) Shiner, where they make the famous Shiner Bock beer. Played basketball, baseball, track and field, and American football in junior high and high school. I am proudly a member of the 1A State Football Champion team of 2004, and runners-up in 2003. My positions were linebacker and running-back, and I won the Dave Campbell Magazine's 1A Texas Football Player of the Year award my senior year.

We also won the 1A State Baseball Championship in 2002 and 2004, and I was awarded the State Tournament MVP in 2004.

In college, at Trinity University, I played football for 5 years, and also threw the javelin on the Track and Field team. I placed 5th in nationals in 2008 and 3rd in 2009. More importantly, I met my soon-to-be wife, Christyn, and she has been my best friend ever since.

Graduated from Trinity in December 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science, and minors in Mathematics and Physics. Most recently, I started working at USAA as an Oracle Database Administrator.

I love traveling, mostly with Christyn but sometimes solo. I am excited to meet people through Couch Surfing across the globe.

I've learned through business travel that sometimes sitting at a table for one is not as depressing as the others around you may think.

PHILOSOPHY

Relax... take in the fresh air. Enjoy the smell of the grass as you are cutting it. Look at the positive side of the situation you are in if it is possible. Things happen for a reason, and He does have a bigger plan for your life than you are aware of.

Interests

Sports, fishing, hunting, hanging out with my pup.

I am a huge geek, so I love toys. One of my most recent purchases is a Roomba, a robotic vacuum. Christyn likes it because it cleans the house, I am more interested in its sensors and algorithms it uses to calculate where to go.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to listen to music, mostly Texas Country. I also enjoy rock, mainstream country, oldies, and some rap r&b.

Recently I have read a few books, my favorite being Marcus Luttrell's "Lone Survivor." I have recently been very interested in Navy Seal training, and have obtained a new appreciation for the military as a result of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked to the top of El Yunque peak. See pictures. THE most gorgeous view I have ever experienced. It was surreal.
