About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Cultural Learnings of The World for Make Benefit Glorious Mind of Abby!

ABOUT ME

My name is Abby and I love to travel. Since I don't get to do that as often as I would like to, hosting couch surfers and listening to their travel tales is a good substitute. :)

PHILOSOPHY

Travel is fatal to prejudice.
One must travel to polish one's brain against that of others - Michel de Montaigne
The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page - St Augustine
Don't tell me how well educated you are, or how old you are, tell me how much you have traveled, then I'll tell you how much you know - Muhammad

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted people 4 times now, which really surprises me. Tallahassee never strikes me as a "destination"!

I've also surfed a guy's couch in Milan, Italy. It was wonderful getting to meet and socialize with a real Italian. He even cooked an authentic Pasta Carbonara for me and my friend!

Interests

Movies, animals, horseback riding, singing, art, theatre, music, museums, politics, FSU football, food, wine, cooking, gardening, anything really, but especially TRAVELING!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love French movies! L'Auberge Espagnole and Cyrano de Bergerac especially! I hope to one day be fluent enough in French to read Dumas and Cyrano de Bergerac in their original language! For now though I'm stuck reading in English....not that it's a bad thing....I love Harry Potter and any book by the English author Philippa Gregory (The Other Boleyn Girl).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After visiting France in the summer of 2003, I decided I wanted to live there, so I made it happen! From August 2004 to March 2005 I was an Au Pair and lived with a French family in a tiny village about an hour south west of Paris. I loved living there and cannot wait to go back!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
