ABOUT ME

I am from the United States and am 23 years old. I moved to Metz, France about a year ago for graduate school. I love to travel and see new places, and have been to 22 European countries so far! I also like to take pictures of the places I go and recently started a website for friends and family to see the pictures. I am also working on my pilots license for small propeller planes and back home I go flying a lot with my Dad. I ran cross country and track in college and still run for fun now. I like to watch all sports, especially soccer, baseball, basketball, and American football. My school interest is engineering, specifically nanotechnology applied to biomedical sciences (things such as nanoparticles for drug delivery). I hope to do a phd doing research in this, so I am currently applying to schools for next spring. I also like doing things outdoors, such as hiking or going on boats...or even just a long walk in a park or something. Mostly I just like to try new things and meet new people, and just relax and have fun. Oh, I am also a big fan of tea and coffee!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just started my own CS account, but before I went with a friend to meet locals in Metz that showed us around the city. It was really fun and I hope to do more things like that.

Interests

Traveling, running, other sports (watching and playing), learning languages, flying small planes, going in boats, going to the ocean, fishing, science, engineering, philosophy, meeting new people and learning about other cultures, food, tea and coffee, having fun, relaxing, music, and sometimes reading books.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all different types of music, but mostly I listen to either trance/techno or something calm like Jack Johnson, depending on which mood I'm in. I also like some country, jpop, rock, alternative...really a little of everything I suppose. I like to read books about philosophy written by great thinkers, and usually I watch comedy movies or ones with deep meaning and/or plot twists. My favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I have seen is the island of Santorini, Greece. It is like a fairy tale there! The most amazing thing I have done is probably flying a plane all by myself with noone else in there with me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people about some different things in science and engineering. I also like to exchange ideas about philosophy (such as why we are here, etc.) and I have a lot of my own thoughts about this. Also, if anyone needs help learning English, its my native language and I'd be happy to help! I am interested in learning more French at the moment and meeting someone who would like to help me with this.
