About Me

I am a Systems Administrator for a Jesuit University and self avowed geek. I like to hike and I am currently loosely planning a camping/couchsurfing/hiking road trip to Big Bend area with my boyfriend, Reed. He's a retired geek from La Veta, CO. We just got back from two weeks in Guatemala. For one week we were on a medical mission in Nueva Santa Rosa. Neither of us has medical backgrounds, but we were called ATVs: all terrain volunteers. I fitted folks for reading glasses and Reed applied fluoride to kid's teeth. I improved my meager Spanish a bit thanks in large part to some of the local volunteers at the mission. We spent a second week after the mission in Santiago de Atitlan soaking up the Mayan culture and relaxing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To offer a place and information for a traveler passing through. And to find a place to stay when I might be traveling through your area.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Americana, Blues, Jazz, really eclectic taste in music. Most movies put me to sleep, but my favorites are science fiction or a good drama. My reading materials tend to be work related geek stuff, but I enjoy a novel or nonfiction book as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gardening in the high desert of Colorado and leading a community garden for 5 years is a feat. Reinventing myself when necessary.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to share what I know about Colorado and the Southwest in general having traveled much of it. I love a good road trip! I'm a foodie and like to cook when I have the time. I'm sort of a seed to table kind of cook and in the summer after work you will mostly find me outside grazing on whatever is growing in my ever expanding gardens. In the winter I am planning, and starting things under lights in the basement to put out in the spring...and dreaming.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A bedroom, or basement room, share the shower, kitchen, maybe a meal. Knowledge of of the area, potential hiking companion or other outing.
