About Me

Hi all! Queer traveller here 🙌

My name is Cesc (they/them). I am a 30-year-old researcher from Catalunya living between Barcelona and Cape Town. I investigate how infections such as HIV and malaria impact brain development in children. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was a well-travelled member of this community, but with the change in policy, I could not afford the membership and so deleted my account, which I pretty much regret.

A bit about me: Theatre, nature, and hiking are amongst my passions, and I have a natural curiosity to learn from other cultures through respect and appreciation. Do not hesitate to hit me up if you want to hang out in Barcelona, as I would love to show you some of its hidden gems. I am also happy to do language exchanges if you can help me with Portuguese or Xhosa.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When travelling (or hosting travellers), I enjoy sharing my time with friendly people who are socially aware and environmentally committed. Myself being a proud member of the LGBTIQA+ community, as a surfer I am looking for a safe space, free of phobia, discrimination, and hatred of any type. As a host, I offer the same, and the benefits of surfing with me include decent Spanish cooking skills and my ability to communicate with natural Mediterranean warmth.

Interests

Hiking, theatre, playing with doggos, exploring new areas in my surroundings, sometimes clubbing, being a potato while soaking in the sun, and all kinds of artsy stuff :)

Kind of a nonconformist, I like having deep conversations about the flaws of the current systems we live in, potential alternatives and opportunities for transformation. Planning on creating my first fanzine this year, so hmu if you would like to be featured in it!
