About Me
I wanted something new and different in my life, so I got rid of everything - House, cars, and 2 storage units filled with "stuff" as I wanted to disconnect with that "old style" of living and see what the world is all about. I've been traveling perpetually now for 10 months, and I intend to continue. It's definitely opened my eyes and given me new perspective.
One thing I've learned is that as amazing as seeing "sights" can be, it's the people you meet along the way who really make travel special. I'm interested in meeting unique individuals. People who see life and therefore the world in a unique way. Sharing/swapping experiences and anecdotes is quite frankly one of my favorite pass-times, because what would travel be without people to share your thoughts with?
Another thing I quite enjoy is hunting for the "the absolute best" food of specific types... For example I want to find the best milk chocolate the world has to offer... And burger... And pizza... And sushi... I suppose I'm not quite what you'd call a true foodie as I've never developed my taste well enough to really pick out the subtleties of a dish - But as long as I'm enjoying what I'm eating no big deal right? So far, I have some top contenders, but there are plenty of countries still on my "to visit" list I have to explore. So if we meet up, I'm eager to hear your experiences or suggestions on the above.
One thing I have to say, the best pizza I've ever had is still from the U.S. - Mountain Pizza Pie in Colorado... Holy crap was that an amazing, practically perfect pizza. But chocolate? German, and New Zealand chocolate are top contenders at the moment. Can't wait to try Belgium and Swiss chocolate freshly made within the next few months.
A few other notes about me: I enjoy reading. A good book is something that can suck me in for days. Fast cars is also something I'd dedicated a lot of my life to in the past. I don't really drink beer, but I enjoy a good rum.
I'm clueless when it comes to small-talk, but get caught up in deep discussions and real issues. Overall my hope is to find and create a network of overall good individuals across the globe that I keep in contact with. You know, the sort of people you can't wait to call or send a message sharing a funny joke you just heard with, or send some cool pics to of your latest adventure.
Distance is no big deal. I'm flexible and willing to circle back to meet up with the right people and maintain friendships, because at the end of the day, when I end up taking my last breath and contemplating my final thoughts, I'm 100% certain those thoughts won't be about my houses, cars, or any material items I've owned. Those thoughts will be dedicated to replaying my favorite memories and experiences with my favorite people. Can't wait to add to that list.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As amazing as travel has been, there is one downside... Leaving all my friends and family behind, it can get a bit isolated from time to time when I get busy. I've heard Couchsurfing recommended again, and again, so I decided to register and see what it's all about. Till now, I've always rented condos and apartments via Airbnb and though it does have its advantages, I prefer to be near people, not locked away by myself all the time. I figure the best way to make this a reality is CS.

Music, Movies, and Books
Wow... Why are you doing this to me!? How can I condense all that great music out there into just a few lines? Really though, I like a vast range of classic rock, alternative, even some heavy metal. But I'll also listen to soft, or easy listening, and even the occasional pop and hip-hop. Whatever sounds good and fits the mood. Cyclical.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'll share that story when we meet. I have some unusual ones that will likely surprise you. But interested in hearing your amazing experiences as well. How about a trade?
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmmmm... So I'm supposed to type out what I have to teach or share with others? Well, I've been a professional marketer since 2005, and have owned several businesses. So I am happy to share some of the things I've learned for rapid growth and transformation. I've taught thousands over the years, and this is a passion of mine so I am happy to offer ideas, and share strategies, or even learn from others. No matter how much you know, there is always learning to be done, and you never know who will offer a fresh perspective. :)
I also have some crazy (C.R.A.Z.Y.) stories to share, as my life has been a roller-coaster ride, and I've lived some unusual experiences for sure! But more than that, I love hearing others stories, and am excited to learn how others have lived, learned, and grown. That's what travel is all about. Even though I'm only 8 months into this adventure, I've already learned that the best destinations have less to do with the sites and tourism, and far more to do with the people you meet and connect well with. That's what I'm most excited about. :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
For one, I can make the best darn cheesecake you'll ever taste in your life. (Subject to finding the right ingredients though.) Challenge accepted? I am also happy to help out any way I can. Not lazy.
In one instance I helped a host with her new startup. Her team couldn't seem to crack the right target demographics with their out-reach methods. Had been working on it for 11 months, all 6 of them. I cracked it for them in a day. Not a brag, it's just I've been doing this a long time, and it's a passion of mine. I am more than happy to share what I know, and even lend a hand. Even just brainstorming something completely new. I'm game - It's not work to me, but a game of strategy, and that intriques me.
