About Me
Hi all!
My name is Chanasorn Kongprachaya (you can called me Sorn 😊). I’m a thai student who currently live in Padova, Italy. One of my goal here in Europe is to get to know different cultures and travel as many place as I can to meet new people and experience the world in two years of my life here.
I was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. My nationality is Thai and my ethnic is Thai-Chinese. My gender is male and I am single. I finish my school and bachelor’s course in physics in Thailand. Right now, I am studying for a master’s degree in astrophysics and cosmology at the University of Padova.
Apart from physics and academic stuff, I am passionate with cooking. I will be very excited to cook and share thai foods with others while learning new local cuisine. During my time here in Italy, I always try to learn new Italian dishes and I am sure that I will be as much enthusiastic to other cuisine. My favorite cocktail is gin&tonic. I am also a coffee enthusiast. I love specialty coffee brewed with V60 pour-over method and Aeropress. I enjoy also espresso/ristretto. I will very much appreciate to have a conversation about coffee with other geeks or baristas.
I am a good listener to others’ life experience. Since I consider myself to have such a small amount of life experience, It was an eye-opening and exciting to know life stories in general. In addition, I love to have deep conversation on self-improvement. Self development is always one of my most favorite topics to have a chat. I used to practice Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) before, as I also have a certificate of practitioner coach on this approach. However, I do not root on it and now I just love to listen and share the way of dealing with life in general. I also love Psychology in various context and usage.
I might study science, but art is always an exciting subject to talk about for me. I might not know a lot about it and I would love to know more. My favorite painter is Salvador Dali as I love surrealism work. Now, I am also enjoying Italian art as I travel to different cities in Italy. In addition, it is interesting for me to know the history of it as well. For pop culture, I am into Korean pop culture a lot such as K-pop music genre and K-drama.
I love listening to music. I listen to various genres time by time but mainly k-pop, Jazz, and classical. I love going to Jazz bar. Besides, I usually learn new choreography of k-pop songs for fun when I have time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on Couchsurfing to meet new people and find friendly host when I am traveling across Europe. Unfortunately, I live in a shared apartment now and hence unable to host any guest even if I would love to. In return, I can cook thai food for host if want to try. I once convinced my non-spicy-eater Spanish friend to love Thai spicy curry and eat it nonstop so I am quite confident in my cooking skill 😆.
Apart from that, I would love to hang out with travelers and people in general. I live in Padova which is also very close to Venice, Verona, Treviso and so on. I can take you around Venice as I have been there several times now. I would love to engage in a cultural exchange conversation as well. If you want to know Thai culture, I can tell you about it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: For kpop, my favorite bands/artists are BTS, Straykids, Ateez, Newjeans, IU, and IVE. For classical, I love Sibelius the most and I am keen on violin concerto the most. For Jazz, I have no specific favorite songs they are too many and I cannot decided. I can say that I mostly listen to big band jazz. Take five and Giant step are the classics and both my favorite.
Movie: I love sci-fi movies like Interstellar. Though, I might be a bit skeptical if it is not scientifically accurate enough. I also keen to movie with deep meaning and complicated story line. Horror movie is my weakness but if it is interesting enough, I will watch it. My favorite director is Christofer Nolan.
Books: I read literature when I have time. I love Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I am currently reading The Devil And Miss Prym also by Paulo and it has been good so far.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I would say that the fact that I am now studying Cosmology in Europe with full scholarship is one of the most amazing and exciting thing for me now. I was once a student who failed in science exam during my middle school and my teacher back then has said that I cannot be a good scientist. I was not confident with myself either but here I am. This is the beginning of my journey towards my passion and I am sure that, one day, this will be the most amazing thing that I’ve done.
I would like to mention that I used to work as a physics/math/chemistry private tutor in Thailand. This is one of my most important experience since I have learn a lot from it. This also kicked me into establishing another goal: improve the academia in Thailand. It is miserable that a lot of good student struggle with the education system in Thailand and it want to help them when I can.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can talk about science for hours along with self-development as I have mentioned. I am also a good listener and always interested in stories of other’s life.
