I love the idea of meeting new people who can tell you about their hometown instead of just being in a boring hostel on your own. I've only met super nice and interesting people via couchsurfing and I like that the whole concept is built on trust. It makes me happy to see that something like this can work simply because there's a bunch of cool people out there. 😊
