Hi I'm Chantal.

I'm a friendly and outgoing 23 year old.

I live in Hadleigh, Essex which is about 30mins outside of London by train. You get the hustle and bustle of London, the fun of Essex and the peace of the countryside and the estuary (we're very close to the opening of the Thames). I enjoy where I live :)

My dad is English and my mother is from Rabaul in Papua New Guinea. I grew up in a town called Lae in Papua New Guinea and moved to England when I was 9 so I'm from a multicultural background which is incredibly obvious if you were to ever meet my parents, discussions at family meals can be pretty comical/heated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The same reason everyone else is on here pretty much :)
To meet new people, travel the world, and share experiences.

Hopefully I can return the favour for anyone wanting to travel to England or even Papua New Guinea (through my family).

Interests

Languages - I've been learning/speaking German since 14, French since 11 and have recently taken up Italian...Spanish is next on the list - so it would be great to put my skills to the test as much as possible.

Cooking, eating and drinking - who doesn't love any of these!!

Music - I love listening to and playing music. I play the piano, sing and have a few guitars lying about so it would be great to jam with people around the world.

Hiking and climbing or any outdoor actives really :)

Oh and of course, because I'm an 'Essex girl' by default (if you don't know what that means, google 'The Only Way is Essex) I love to go out to clubs and bars as well!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I like a bit of everything, my favourite bands are Queens of the Stone Age and Mastodon, but if you go through my spotify or iTunes you'll find anything from Marvin Gaye to Hudson Mohawke.

Movies - Like my music taste, a bit of a mixed bag, but the movies I tend to watch again and again are...LOTR Trilogy, Goodfellas, Howl's Moving Castle and Akira.

Books - Too many to list, but a book I've really enjoyed recently is 'The Buried Giant'

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm friendly, fun and tidy. I love to cook so will happily make you breakfast/lunch/dinner if you allow me to use your kitchen - I make a pretty mean pork ramen.

I'm always up for spending time with you or if you want privacy I'm also very independent so can amuse myself.

In turn, if you ever want to come visit England, I'll happily be a tour guide and show you around not just London/Essex but will happily take you to other parts of England if I'm given fair warning and you're staying long enough.
