Overview
About Me
I'm trying to get to know different perspectives of familiar things.
I could be a bit too systematic in some things, but I have definitely learnt how to adapt to most situations I'm in. You would see that I'm often a quiet, observant person, and that's only because there are so many things I want to see and hear.
Every person I meet has something personal to offer that I can take in, be it how they drink their coffee, how often they read the news, how they welcome new people, the way they communicate with their surroundings, or just about anything!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
If you're ever in Beirut, I could take you out to the streets of this city to savor all the little gems that I've uncovered so far, as well as the things hidden away in overlooked buildings.
I'm also hoping to be able to host soon, but baby steps!
I can safely say that I probably wouldn't have enjoyed traveling as much as I do if it weren't for CouchSurfing. Living with people even for a short period of time gives you so much insight into their culture and their boundless kindness and generosity!
Interests
I'm drawn to history and culture, I enjoy music, some forms of art and most of all food and cooking. I like to see how people live their lives in different cities, and how different that could be from how I live mine in Beirut.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anywhere from Cat Power, Goldfrapp, Feist, Analogik, Patrick Watson, Andrew Bird, Pink Martini, Nite Jewel, The White Stripes, Soap Kills, Air, John Maus, Koop, CocoRosie, Molly Nilsson, to Asmahan and more. There's a complete and maybe too detailed of a list on my last.fm profile http://www.last.fm/user/darkredbbb
For films and books, I have to say that it's been a couple of years since I've enjoyed a good film or book. However, some iconic films have really left their mark on me, such as Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, Bergman's Persona, Haneke's La Pianiste and maybe Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. Also, every film by Hayao Miyazaki makes me feel so warm and giddy on the inside.
There's an extensive list of TV shows and films on my portable hard disk that I would be more than willing to share!
Teach, Learn, Share
There's nothing I enjoy more than sharing pieces of my Lebanese and Arab culture, my language, our traditions and most of all our delicious cuisine. I make excellent Turkish coffee, and I've observed my mother in the kitchen enough times to teach you how to make the simplest and most refreshing Lebanese dishes.
