Hello!
My name is Charles. I am a 41 yr old, black, gay man, and a fashion designer. I am currently living in Nashville, TN, which happens to be the city of my birth and where I grew up. I have also lived in Boston, MA, Atlanta, GA, and Oakland, CA within the past 20 years, but most of my adult life has been spent in Nashville. I am single and have no children.

I have traveled internationally twice. In January of 2016, spending 5 days in London (including 2 days in Windsor and Chinnor) and 6 days in Paris (including 1 day in Versailles). Then in 2018 I did something I am very proud of and traveled solo throughout Europe for almost 3 months. During that time I visited London, Italy (Milan, Turin, Bergamo, Florence) , Spain (Seville, Barcelona, Sitges, San Sebastián, Guetaria, Zarautz, Bilboa, Pamplona), Germany (Frankfurt, Mainz, Armsheim), and Amsterdam. This was also the first time I used CS and it was incredible! I made so many wonderful, lifelong friends! It truly was so much more than a place to stay but creating lasting bonds and memories.

I have always been interested in what was beyond my immediate surroundings. Meeting new people, trying new foods, listening to different music, and just having unique experiences. I am an avid believer that one truly gets to know themselves and express themselves better by engaging with the world around them- and the broader that world, the more open and expansive an individual one can be.

Lastly, I am a person who loves community and helping others , especially one on one in an organic way, when and where I can. So if any couchsurfers are in the area and need some tips or just want to hang out and feel welcome in the city, please feel free to drop me a line!

Love to travel, but have a unique experience and not pay a fortune!! Also love meeting new people and experiencing the actual culture of a city rather than just the typical tourist attractions. Naturally, I am interested in well known places of interest wherever I go, BUT I am not looking for a glamorous, comfy American tourist experience. I want a more substantive and realistic perspective on life in the places I explore- in hopes of finding out about the people, the culture, & myself within said land.

Fashion, architecture, history, music, film. Love indie movies and theaters. Love flea markets and thrift shops!! Give me a couple vintage stores and some yard sales and we are in business!!
Museums, art galleries, live performances. Getting dressed up and having a nice cocktail. Or relaxing with a glass of wine, some pizza, and a board game.

I'm clean and neat, but definitely not OCD! And I'm very considerate about other people's things and space. At the same time, I'm very warm and open and can get comfortable very easily and don't often meet a stranger! I can talk to anyone and pride myself on being a very amiable host and guest.
