About Me

Hey hey hey!

I'm an outdoorsaholic and can't get enough of the sun. I am charismatic and kind, but enjoy my alone time as most ambiverts do. I spend my summers cooking full meals at a small backwoods camp in the heart of the Sequoia National Park wilderness and spend my off days backpacking or climbing within my neck of the park. I love to play sports but can never watch them. I prefer books to Netflix, but won't deny the infrequent unhealthy binge. I'm beginning to look at the world through a camera lens and am working on my craft. I hope to meet you!

I've avoided social media for the last couple years but have returned to Facebook! I don't have Snapchat or Instagram or any others that I can think of. I do have a Couchsurfing account now! That's exciting.

I'M REAL

Although my Couchsurfing profile says 'Member since 2016', I just created this profile on 4/14/2018 so I don't have any friends or references yet. You could be my first!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel and find kind people to meet and dive deep into the unknown depths of tuned in conversation devoid of distractions. I often feel a tinge of frustration when I go through a day and notice many eyes glued to their blue screens, detracting a potential encounter and welcoming of a stranger. I love the open embrace of strangers. Society taught me not to talk to strangers when I was young, but that's a bunch of bullshit. How can one understand the vitality of our human experience without delving into the void of conversation that leads to living truths through the eyes of those without similar backgrounds? Strangers introduce topics that would have gone unknown, without contemplation, if not for a side leaning "hey" or a congenial "hello there!". We are all just humans under our color-coated shell, indistinguishable from another without vision. Sure, we can agree or disagree on a given topic, but because we all have the potential to decide yes or no, doesn't that make us equal? Even if we disagree? I somehow fell down a flight of wobbly theoretical wooden steps and landed on my toes, here. If I don't get the opportunity to meet you, it was divine.

I make an effort to live mindfully and created a website with useful tools and advice if you're interested!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite has always been a tough word for me to consider in my vocabulary, for the world of art includes an endless list of excellent works, but I don't disagree with 'least favorite'.

I've been listening a lot to Flaming Lips and Interpol lately along with Sharon Van Etten. David Bowie is my all-time favorite musician.

To list a few: Modest Moust, The Black Keys, Death Grips, David Bowie, Pavement, Grizzly Bear, Radiohead,Talking Heads, Beastie Boys, Beck, G Love and Special Sauce, St Vincent, Anderson paak. Donovan, Lou Reed, Little Dragon

Some books: Anything Beats: On the Road, Go, Gary Snyder poetry, Ken Kesey (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Dharma Bums. Travels with Charley (Steinbeck), anything Thomas Pynchon or DFW (Haven't finished Infinite Jest yet), Vineland, Crying of Lot 49, The Girl with the Curious Hair, Raymond Carver short stories.

Directors (because great movies are abundant) : Wes Anderson films, Paul Thomas Anderson, Charlie Kaufman, Christopher Nolan....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in the moment. Always

Teach, Learn, Share

I always have a book or two waiting for me and a notepad in my back pocket and am constantly on the prowl for a book recommendation, new literary journal I haven't heard of, or any verses of language melded with the soul of the beholder. Live and learn by loving. Learn to love by living.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking! I work as a chef over the summers and regulary prepare six-dish dinners. I can teach you how to bake bread!

I can teach you how to juggle if you have three balls!
