Hey, we're Charlie and Emily. We're both new to CS so figured we may as well have a joint profile as we travel together. We met at Uni in 06, and between a couple of ski seasons and a fair number of holidays we've been working pretty solidly, her as a primary teacher, and me as an events tech. From June-September 2016 we road tripped around the USA using Airbnb and camping where we could. More recently we've been settled in Auckland, living in a shared place which was great to get integrated into Kiwi living! We both worked during this time but have now set off on our trip around the rest of New Zealand.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I did a ski season a couple of years ago in Morzine, and Em joined me for a second one. I guess we both realised there's more to life than living and working in the UK. Not to say we don't enjoy it there, but it's easy to get caught up in the day to day business, and forget about the rest of the world out there.

We are both new to CS so I'm not expecting people to be welcoming us into their homes with open arms right away, however if you fancy giving us a chance, we'll be glad to show you what nice guests we can be! :-)

We've set aside a budget for getting around and we are camping where we can but figured couch-surfing would be a nice way to break it up and meet people along the way. I'm hoping this can be a cultural exchange. Even if we don't end up surfing, we're aiming to get involved at some CS meetups as we move around.

As we don't have a home at the moment, we won't be able to host anyone right now. But once we finish our travels and get a place of our own again we can definitely return the favour! We plan to settle in London for a while when we return to the UK.

Intereses

We both love music and good food! Good company. Films and theatre and anything entertaining. Walking, and discovering new places. We're not mega sporty, but we're certainly active.

Personal interests include, making noise in a musical, and hopefully not disturbing fashion. Visual arts, photography, cooking, good beer and not afraid to say I enjoy a bit of gaming (That definitely includes board games!!).

Emily is the book worm among us, and she also loves to sew and make garments.

Anything Coen brothers or Tarantino generally gets a watch. Not a fan of your average blockbuster, but hey, i'll give em a go! The new Jurassic park ain't got nothing on the original - 'hold on to yer butts'.

I have acquired a cheap acoustic guitar... that just about holds it's tune, so i'd be happy to teach you what I know, or have a jam! Emily is used to working with kids as a teacher and nanny, so is happy to babysit.

I make a pretty good pizza, dough and all. We can bake you a cake! Hopefully one of us can make you laugh, or at least smile :-). We can offer you a place to stay in London (or wherever we end up) when we eventually return! Emily is trained as an English teacher so she can help you with the language. I'm a man of few talents, but maybe I can help you with a computer problem, or write a song !
