About Me

Hi my name's Charlie Phillips, I'm a young Aussie currently studying International Studies in my amazing home-town of Melbourne.
I'm heading to Venezuela and possibly Columbia this year to see a bit of Latin America, enjoy the culture, meet new people and have a lot of fun along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend used Couchsurfing whilst travelling in Russia and chanced upon some really great people in Moscow, had a great time with, made some lasting friendships and most importantly, was able to share his room with more great people when he came back to Melbourne.
That's why I think this site is such a great idea and I love the idea of sharing and reciprocity with like-minded from people all around the world!

Interests

I love going out whenever I can, partying and seeing good live music with my mates.

I'm also really passionate about politics and especially fighting for workers' rights in the union movement. I also love history, in particular the 19th and 20th centuries.

I love motorcycles and I'm currently working on my half built 1982 Suzuki GSX250.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite music genres: Jungle, House, Ska, Punk and the Blues (but not necessarily in that order).

Favourite Movies: 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' by Guy Ritchie, 'Children of Men' by Alfonso Cuarón and 'La Haine' by Mathieu Kassovitz.

Favourite books: 'Hell's Angels' by Hunter S. Thompson, 'Down and Out in Paris and London' by George Orwell and 'The Lord of the Rings' by J. R. R. Tolkien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Growing up and living in the most liveable city in the world, around so many incredible artists, writers actors, musicians, and all-round good people with so many great venues and interesting spots around the city has been such an amazing experience for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and French to anyone who'd like to learn

I can make an awesome paella with the right seafood

I'm keen to have a lot of fun wherever I am but also try my hardest to make sure my hosts have the time of their lives whilst I'm with them

I'm more than happy to share my couch and show my international friends a good time when I'm home in Melbourne.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to have a beer and get to know the person who is kind enough to be so welcoming to me as a fellow traveller and human being.

7 of my friends are travelling around Europe at the same time and in many different cities. They are just as keen as I am to get to know new people in Europe and make lasting connections for the future and are happy to hang out with the locals.

Once again, I'm more than happy to offer up my couch to anyone who want's to use it once I'm back in Australia.
