About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I travel to perform stand-up comedy in towns I haven't been to yet.

ABOUT ME

I'm a writer and comic from NYC, and I hope to one day write for the Daily Show or The Colbert Report. In the meantime, I like to get out of New York to perform and meet people who, well, aren't New Yorkers.

My friends find me to be a loyal friend, partially because I tend to remember any story they tell me about relationships or family trouble, and I tend to give them advice that isn't meant to further my own interests.

PHILOSOPHY

I am firm in the belief that I will never have the answers to what I want to know. Thus I will neither desecrate another's customs nor drink someone's kool-aid. Unless they have a Bassett Hound. I effing love Bassett Hounds.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mainly surf for now, but as soon as I have a decent apartment, you are welcome on my couch or the world's greatest air mattress! When I surf, I'm usually out performing stand-up at night, but I like to see the town I'm in during the day and maybe party at night.

I'm also happy to help clean the living room and bathroom the morning after I stay! And I can make some decent blueberry pancakes if given the ingredients and technology.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For a week every November for six years, I slept on my buddy's couch in Chicago while I was working comedy clubs there. He moved to Portland, unfortunately, and I'll miss his couch as much as I'll miss him.

Also, in my college dorm sophomore year, I slept on my couch more than my bed.

Interests

Watching, learning, making animated cartoons. Trying weird food. Taking long walks through new neighborhoods. Avoiding conversations about professional sports at bars. And not at bars.
Avoiding conversations about music or movies that end up feeling like it's a conversation about professional sports. Hiking. Camping. Ultimate frisbee. Pick-up games of any established or impromptu sport. Getting a bit drunk and way too serious in conversations about politics, social movements, and science.

I recently started meditating and doing yoga because I'm awesome.

I also really enjoy meeting people who love where they're from and are willing to show me what makes a town their home; I love trying unique or weird food, shops, bars and movie theaters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2005, I visited Eastern Europe, and got to visit an amazing salt mine near Krakow, Poland. 100 meters underground, medieval Poles had carved out an entire wedding chapel out of the salt rock. People get married there. What?

Last week, I got to perform at a comedy club in Manhattan with Jay Pharoah from SNL and Bill Burr, one of my favorite comics working today. It's been a good year for me in comedy in general, but this was one of those experiences that is motivating and scary at the same time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I was an SAT tutor for awhile. Grammar anyone?
