About Me

CURRENT MISSION

cycling the year away

ABOUT ME

I started a cycling trip in Singapore in March 2009 and I made it to Germany in May 2010 (with a handful of detours). I'm now hanging out in Indonesia before I head home in August to look for one of those job things.

PHILOSOPHY

Honesty. I hate when people lie. And mostly when people lie about silly things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't have a couch right now. I don't even have a place to live. But, when I'm done traveling I live in Alaska, and that's not a bad place to visit...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met a handful of people through couchsurfing and so far have had really good experiences.

Interests

Mountains and being outside. Climbing, biking, running, etc...I like to read.
I'm a big fat fan of watching movies. I don't really like TV.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like Tarantino films, Wes Anderson films, documentaries of all types. I like a lot of movies...I even enjoy really lame 80's action films.
Recent books I enjoyed: Everything is Illuminated, The Great Game, The People Book, Catfish Mandala, Balkan Ghosts, The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
Music: Modest Mouse, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Kanye West, Nick Drake, Jurassic 5. I don't really like any particular genres. My moods change a lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a 14 year old boy punch a donkey in the face in order to make it stand still. He was a Uighur boy trying to sell the family animal at the Kashgar, China Sunday animal market. The familiarity with animals that this boy had was unreal.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some bike maintenance things. But that's really about it....

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
