About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see places I never dreamed of.

ABOUT ME

I'm a college student with a pretty bad case of the wanderlust. When I turned 18, I spent most of a year in Japan in Zen monasteries, but more recently I've traveled to Mexico to teach adorable kids English and now I'm studying in Spain. I think the only way to travel is to immerse yourself in a place. Back in the US, I study psycholinguistics, and i think there's nothing more interesting than language, and how language shapes the mind.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm alive to learn as much as my brain can fit, to taste everything my stomach can manage, and to talk until my tongue wears out, and to see as much beauty as my can bear.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm traveling, but I can't wait to get back to California and start hosting surfers when I finally get my own apartment. I'm also looking forward to showing people around the San Francisco Bay, which is one of my favorite pastimes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had the opportunity to tag along with one of my friends who is an experienced surfer when I was in Amsterdam. I have to admit, I had my doubts at first but it was a great experience. Our host was incredibly considerate and fun, and I felt like I learned way more about the local culture and people than if I had stayed

Interests

I love talking to interesting people, art, good food and good beer. It goes without saying that I have a passion for learning about new cultures, places and people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- Elliott Smith, Major Lazer, Kid Cudi, The Pixies,
Vitalic, Hot Chip, The Long Winters, Mexican Institute of Sound, Metric
Books- anything by Orwell, P.G. Wodehouse, Kafka, trashy science fiction, history
Movies: F is for Fake, Dumb and Dumber, Viridiana, A woman is a woman, The Dark Knight, Pulp Fiction

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the best experiences I've ever had was when I was younger, I went to a science camp in the florida keys, which are these tiny islands close to cuba. I spent a week on an island that you could walk around in 5 minutes, fishing, snorkeling in the perfect blue water, swimming through the reefs and learning about the ecosystem.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I'm interested in language and how people learn, along with having studied latin, japanese and spanish, I have realized a lot about the best way to study language, and i want to share what I've learned.
