ABOUT ME

I am 24, in the last year of my Master (Physics) at the UvA. I think my friends would say that I am a caring person because I want to see the people I care for happy, and cheerful and outgoing. And a bit of a chaotic person since I usually try to do three things at a time that also do not exactly fit in the amount of time that's given. That in combination with a bit of perfectionism is sometimes kind of tiring. Maybe that fits the typical beta profile but I'm not a very nerdy person, don't worry!

PHILOSOPHY

Pff, that's a trick question. I do not know really what my personal philosophy is. Maybe just go with the flow, don't worry be happy. I'm sure a lot of people should do so (including me) :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

One of my fellow students visited San Francisco recently and couchsurfed. I heard earlier stories of another fellow student who couchsurfed through Canada and he said that everyone was so nice and helpful. Since I'm going to the US in august I thought it will be a great opportunity to find out for myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Absolutely none. Since my boyfriend and will visit the US I thought a couchsurfing account will be useful and I would like to get to know new people. And of course it is much more fun and social than staying at a hotel.

兴趣

At the moment, I spent the most of my time at the university (of Amsterdam) since this is my final year and I'm busy with my graduation research. During the weekends I spent time with my friends and\or boyfriend and go to see my horse since I have my own (icelandic) horse that of course deserves attention. Another passion of mine is dancing and two evenings per week I train for myself and teach.

Let's start with music. Electronic music: Ritchie Hawtin, Joris Voorn, Dubfire, Egbert, Adam Beyer, Maya Jane Coles, Sasha are a few names. I like to listen to classical music as well and all sorts of modern music. Such as Goldfish, Selah Sue, The Cat Empire, U2, Muse, RHCP, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, Jaya the Cat, Manu Chao, Nightwish, Queen. And the list still continues...

Some time ago I wasn't really into books because I never took the time to read. Thanks to my boyfriend I discovered the fantasy genre. Lucky for me he has a whole bookcase full of fantasy books.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Considering travels I would say that my visit to Nigeria was shocking and special. We stayed with acquaintances and not in some hotel. Most striking is that although the people there have almost nothing, they are always lively and hospitable and insisted that we would join them for dinner. Since there is not enough electricity for the whole city, the lights go out a few times per day. And when they all go on again that is immediately a reason for singing and dancing.

The other 'moment' is the day that I turned fourteen and my mom organized a surprise party at the stables. At that time we already had one horse which is my moms. When I walked towards the stables I saw our horse standing outside in the field. But to my surprise, he was also in his stable. It took me about 30 seconds to realize that the horse in the stable was my birthday 'gift' and is, by the way, the brother of the one we already had. That was now ten years ago.

Well, if you're interested in physics maybe I can tell you some things about it. If I can learn from you more about physics, I would be very happy. If I can learn anything from you that has nothing to do with science I would even be more happier!
