HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet new people, experience new places, and give others a chance to do the same here where I live, if they like.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have crashed on several couches, mostly all friends, generally because it was safer than driving at the time. I now intend on doing that on a more global, and (most likely) a more sober level. So far, I have had several surfers, and it was a great experience on all occasions.

兴趣

Coral reefs, outdoors, fishing, other cultures, people watching, animals, camping, books, movies, stories, art, spitting watermelon seeds at strangers, digging up bones of forgotten celebrities, usual guy stuff. Some times i draw.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

One person's idea of amazing is another person's idea of the norm. I hung out with a lot of Iraqis while I was in Fallujah, and I thought getting to know those guys and being their friend was amazing. I had to guard an outpost on a regular basis with 8 or 9 Iraqi Army men at a time while I was over there. I spent my free time learning arabic from them, learning card games, and just hanging out with them. Simple things that I did (like tell people that were sending me care packages to throw in a couple digital watches that had back-lighting in the box so they could tell time at night) meant so much to them. I made a lot of good friends out there, just off the Euphrates River. I even was offered a place to stay, should I ever visit again. I guess that was my first real couch surfing offer. If I ever return to Iraq, I might just take them up on that.
I have seen the Grand Canyon, Golden Gate Bridge, Stonehenge, and a few other crazy spots.
