Overview
About Me
I hail from a small city, or large town depending on how you prefer to fill your glass, in Northern California by the name of Stockton. I am a woman of many hats: I organize and host events based around hip hop, food and/or community; I assist in artist development such as contract writing, recording, production, booking, etc.; I am an artist myself, a writer of many genres and dancer of even more; as well as broadcast and run sound for a local, non profit radio station. I do most of these things under the umbrella of my brand Hella Deadass Entertainment, a mash up of East and West Coast (of the US) style. Despite my occupation being so public, I am actually a very quiet and down to earth person, though I very much enjoy meeting and engaging with new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined this site back in 2009 or 2010 after hearing about it from some friends using it out in San Francisco, California. Over the last decade I have not had a need for it though I would log in every few years and just kind of check things out. Well in January of 2020 I will be going on a mini European tour as part of a performance arts duo. We will be visiting London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris. Due to the high cost of travel between these places, it would be wonderful if I could cut expenses down a bit in regards to boarding.
Interests
One of my biggest interests, besides performing, is food. Though I have no formal training I have thrown many a food pop up and definitely know my way around the kitchen. I can cook anything from vegan delicacies to beef wellington. Though I prefer quiet nights at home, networking is a major part of my occupation and thus going out to see the night life does come in to play.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love virtually all genres of music but I work heavily with and thus am inclined to lean towards hip hop. That being said, I have a very narrow preference for hip hop and most of my favorite artists (Slug of Atmosphere, Pharcyde, Living Legends, Hieroglyphics) would not be found on a mainstream platform. "Conscious Hip Hop" is what some like to call it. I just prefer the least amount of negativity as possible in my music, sound is vibration as they say. I no longer watch very many movies but food and travel shows are my bread and butter. I love books, particular those written by Neil Gaiman, Douglass Adams or Steven King.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bragging about my accomplishments has never been something that has come easy to me. But, one thing I feel comfortable saying is that I, along with a bunch of amazing people, have been on the forefront of an arts revolution in my home town. At one point Forbes magazine named Stockton California, The Most Miserable City in the United States. Quite the accomplishment. Well that same misery breeds great artistry and over the last few years several of us have been fighting hard to get the recognition we know our artists deserve. We have managed to build up our artist community and it is truly a beautiful thing to see so many people coming together.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach: basic yoga/stretching, beginner to advanced level cooking techniques, various genres of dance, songwriting.
I would like to learn: whatever others are willing to teach (within reason, probably not too keen on taxidermy lol).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share: my fabulous cooking, guided meditation, spoken word poetry, impromptu jam sessions, interesting conversation. I am also an experienced photographer and videographer I would be more than happy to take photos or even shoot a small video for hosts upon request and time permitted.
