Ciao, I'm Chiara and I'm a 23 y/o bachelor student at the University of Bologna, now back in my hometown in Tuscany.
Last year I spent an exchange year at the University of Iceland, which completely changed the way I travel. I realized I enjoy taking my time, meeting people, and sharing simple moments such as a walk, a coffee/tea, a home-cooked meal (I'm vegetarian), or a quiet evening of conversation.
I'm into environmentalism, cinema, photography, literature, yoga, and I would like to learn more about hiking, camping and bouldering. I speak fluent English, some German, and Italian is my mother tongue.
During my time in Reykjavik, I was part of SEEDS-Iceland, a non-profit youth organization organizing volunteering workcamps and hosting volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps. I also participated in many Erasmus Student Network (ESN) events, sometimes hosting my own, especially movie screenings, and volunteered for cinema festivals.
A few years ago, I also did a WWOOF experience on an organic farm in the Italian Alps (Dolomiti di Brenta).
I’m an easygoing, respectful, and tidy person, and I feel most at home in calm, cozy environments.
For me, Couchsurfing is about trust, kindness, and genuine human exchange. I’m grateful to everyone who has welcomed me into their homes and shared their time and stories with me.

I’m on Couchsurfing because I love meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and sharing experiences. For me, traveling isn’t just about seeing new places, but it’s about connecting with locals, hearing their stories, and creating meaningful memories. Couchsurfing also adds a touch of adventure to my trips.
I enjoy exchanging travel stories, helping others, and making travel a personal experience. I’m always excited to share a meal, a conversation, or even a cup of coffee or tea with someone who is happy to show me their town.

I’m totally in love with folk music of all kinds, as well as niche bands and artists such as Monsters and Men (they’re quite niche in Italy!), Nanna, Overthought, Chris Pureka and many others.
When it comes to movies, my favourites are Captain Fantastic, Groundhog Day and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
My favourite book is "The Raven's Nest" by Sarah Thomas.
I'm also into board games, in particular Wingspan!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Last summer, my partner and I went on a one-day hike along the Fimmvörðuháls Trail in southern Iceland. We managed to hike only halfway through the trail due to weather conditions and inexperience. As night fell, we stayed at a refuge hut. The next day, instead of continuing on the trail, we hitched a ride back to Reykjavík (thanks, Gaia!). Although we only completed half of the trail, the experience left us with lasting memories, and I'll be glad to tell you all about it.
Of course, I've tons of stories to share about Iceland, like mushroom hunting, camping in front of a Skógar waterfall, the midnight sun, 'surviving' the Icelandic winter etc.
