ABOUT ME

I'm a 25 year old working in the music industry in Chicago. I'm very passionate about music, and love attending live shows. Currently, I manage the Chicago band Verona Red and author the blog The Static Boom.

I love meeting new people and creating fun experiences, and really enjoy laughing and learning. Hopefully through CouchSurfing I can meet some nice, interesting folks!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm an incredibly busy person, but I'd love to host some folks in Chicago when I can. Especially if you're passionate about music! Maybe we can go see a show together while you're here and exchange some music.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My roommate has been hosting people here for the last 1.5 years, and I decided I wanted to get involved too. She's met some really cool people through this, and hopefully now I can too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music! My favorite albums OF 2010 (not necessarily released in 2010) include, in no particular order, Of Montreal's False Priest, Delta Spirit's History from Below, LCD Soundsystem's This is Happening, Menomena's Mines, Maximum Balloon's Maximum Balloon, Foxy Shazam's Foxy Shazam, Arcade Fire's The Suburbs, The Constellation's Southern Gothic, Gorillaz's Plastic Beach, Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' Up From Below. Some other artists I enjoy include The Beatles (#1 fo sho), Muse, Mugison, Local Natives, Modest Mouse, Dr Dog, !!!, MJ, Archie Bronson Outfit, Akron/Family, Eminem, Garbage, Animal Collective, Cage the Elephant, Devendra Banhart, F+TM, Hot Chip, Iron & Wine, Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Black Keys, Decemberists, The Faint, Wolf Parade, TV on the Radio, Yeasayer, Ha Ha Tonka, etc. ...I really enjoy music.

On that note, some of my favorite shows of 2010 included Mumford & Sons at The Riv, LCD at Aragon, Of Montreal at The Riv, Delta Spirit at The Metro, Green Day, Foxy Shazam, and Arcade Fire at Lolla, and Modest Mouse and Girls at P4K. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other great ones.

Buffy and The Mighty Boosh are my favorite TV shows. Others that tickle my fancy include South Park, It's Always Sunny, Flight of the Conchords, The Office, Community, House, American Dad, 30 Rock, Family Guy and Bones.

I also enjoy reading, which I do mostly while on public transit. Currently reading Cash by Johnny Cash. Some great ones I've recently finished include The Pillars of the Earth, Fear and Loathing, 1776, Devil in the White City, A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. And I absolutely loved The World is Flat.
