About Me

Been close to 7 years since I moved to Taipei and stayed in Singapore for almost 8 years which total up to almost 15 years since I left Malaysia.

In the midst of trying to align or realign myself towards a more fulfilling self, trying to still dream. A phrase by George Bernard Shaw that keep that rebel, if not adventurous spirit in me; "You see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

“A stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet.” - Will Rogers

A little part of me always urge me to constantly evaluate the idea of global citizen, or family per se, and the joy of sharing. I have been very lucky to have met many good hearted people while traveling and it's almost natural for me to reciprocate the experience to others. I enjoy making new friends and hearing exciting stories.

I have had a few CS experience while travelling with Yao. He was the one dealing with request and we hosted a few time at the current place we are living in. He is away in Montreal for a year, and I thought I should continue to host.

I would also request for a reference if you are my guest.

Interests

Recently, I am quite interested with neuroscience, ethnography, permaculture and traditional crafts. I enjoy sketching while traveling, it helps me to slow down and observe. On the physical side, i am all for challenges and adventures. And my latest obsession is with a drink called kombucha!

Music, Movies, and Books

Somewhat found this to be rather old school. Personally, I don't seem to find listing down the favourites being relevant here. These days I am learning to be open with all kinds of genres as I believe there is always something to be discovered from. Well, having said that, I am quite interested in architecture related discussions which was the result of the economic model, national policy making as well as human physical and mental paradigm shift.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I'd done:
It was out of stubbornness that I insisted to tag along my 3 other friends who decided to cycle approximately 330 km from Taipei to Kaohsiung in one day. With no experience and no training, I forcefully persuaded my friend to let me join the "fun". I was blessed with a great companion that tolerate my insanity and helped me finished the adventure. After 21 hours with few pit stops to eat and have quick nap, we finished at Kaohsiung. And the "perks" from this accomplishment was that my butt were literally harden and in great pain that I had to sleep face down that evening.

And...solo backpacked at Mexico?

One amazing thing I've seen:
I remember my dad asked the entire family to help fill in the explosive material into the long plastic bags at home. I was too young to even know what that was for and eventually found out that there were for blasting the limestone quarry. I always knew that my dad was working as miner but I had no idea what did he do. One day, he brought me to the quarry and it was the first time i witnessed the blasting. Sitting in the car witnessing the highly choreographed process. When the button was pressed, it followed, almost instantaneously, with the loud "bang" of explosions. For a few seconds, there were total silence with everyone staring attentively at the mountain. It felt as if the time had stopped. The most memorable scene was after that few seconds, the mountain broke into pieces and those stones fell down just like the waterfall hitting the ground with dust rising covering the scene.

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's keep this as an exchange of experiences.
