Overview
About Me
Born and raised in Jakarta until high school, studied in Australia for 6 years, did research project in Germany for 4 years, went back to Australia to work for 7 years, and now back in Jakarta for who knows how long...
On my personality, I guess you have to meet me to make a fair assessment :) I'd like to think of myself as an easygoing person, more a good listener than talker, patient, and a believer in the motto "life is too short to be taken seriously".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking forward to meet people with similar interests and to take part in CS activities in Jakarta so I can learn more about this city (as I have lived most of my adult life overseas), as well as exchange travel stories and generally broaden each other's horizons.
Unfortunately I cannot yet offer lodging as I don't have my own place, but perhaps I can provide transport if there is a need, particularly on weekends when I'm not working.
Interests
Traveling - currently would like to explore Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Language - would love to get the opportunity to practice Italian and German, as well as considering which language to learn next :)
Adventure - scuba diving, bungy jumping, skydiving, skiing.
Performance Arts - operas, musicals, classical concerts, plays.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music : various genres, from classical (mainly piano) to mainstream pop (in English as well as other languages), oldies to lounge music, a dash of jazz and country. But not a fan of screaming loud types.
Movies : most genres, except soppy chick flicks (I've grown out of them) and bad trilogies. Often goes to a frenzy come Oscar season, as I have the urge to watch all best picture nominated films, and then some. To compensate for the unfulfilled dream of becoming a movie critic, I keep a log of movies I've watched.
Books : fiction, mostly - Man Booker Prize winners, literature (Orwell, Dostoevsky, Dickens). Read a few books in Italian (Camilleri, Ammaniti, Calvino), and German (Hesse, Mann).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Getting my PADI open water certificate...not so amazing but that's the most recent achievement I've got.
Oh, and surviving day-to-day driving in Jakarta without hitting a motorbike (according to a recent 2015 survey, Jakarta is number one city in the world for traffic jam...we have to be the best at something!)
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach : I'm not a confident teacher, but if you're keen on learning Indonesian or English perhaps I can help. Also I have lived for many years in Australia, so if you are going there I can share some travel tips.
I don't think many people would be interested in my professional field, which even I consider quite boring.
Learn : Cultures, how to get cheap flights, what/where to eat when I visit another place, and life's experiences.
Share : A cup of coffee, a meal, or a journey.
