Traveling and couch surfing are two concepts that are intertwined. Traveling is not only about immersing yourself in a new country/culture, it is also about meeting new people and learning what their perspective is on the world. It is in this respect that I believe that staying at a person you have never met before truly immerses you in an experience that teaches you how you relate to others. Making potential friends along the way is also a big plus.
