Hi all,

My name is Chris, I'm your average kind of british guy living in Utrecht in the Netherlands. The story of how I got here is kinda complicated, but will happily explain it over a beer if you're interested.
My background is in Biochemistry and have been living in Utrecht for a little under two years now. I work locally and love to travel, spending way too much money doing so!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a resident in a foreign land. I've grown to appreciate learning about new cultures even more. Plus I firmly believe that the best way to visit a city/country is when you already know someone there. Especially with solo travel, having someone you can get advice from or just chill and have a beer with, just makes the whole experience that little bit more pleasant.

Interests

I'm a big nerd at heart and can happily enjoy my own company. But also a bit of a social butterfly and love listening to new ideas and meeting new people. Especially if they come from a part of the world I've never visited.

Music: Just about everything, although my love of pop seems to be proportional to level of drunkeness....
Books: Science fiction and fantasy. Harry Potter (is everything).
Movies: Sci-fi, fantasy, horror, true stories, historical, comedy, or some weird combination of all of the above.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to volunteer as a medic for a charity in the UK. One time finding a guy at a festival who had collapsed and wasn't breathing. Thanks to some quick thinking and early CPR, i managed to save his life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can hopefully share some wisdom about good places in the Netherlands to visit. I can also share a bottle of wine and a cake.
