I am a writer and filmmaker from the United States who is currently on an international peace pilgrimage that began in the late fall of 2012 and will continue through 2013. The purpose of the trip is to connect with other peacemakers and truth seekers around the world, share stories and work, and build bridges for future collaborations. I am a kind, clean, courteous, humble, respectful, unpretentious and non-judgmental person who is easy to get along with. I love music and film, play guitar and appreciate all of the arts. I do not practice any particular religion, but consider myself a spiritual person who cares deeply about the world we live in and matters of spirit. I live simply, am easy going, and a very self-sufficient and low-maintenance house guest.
My personal philosophy on life is to live in a way that brings you peace and happiness while acting responsibly, being of service to the world, and striving to reach your highest potential. I believe it's important to inspire this in others in this as well. Peace, truth, love, service and simplicity are my guiding principles.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently, I am seeking to participate as a surfer and would like to be able to reciprocate by hosting members of the CS community in the future.
I have been couchsurfing with friends for many years (both as a guest and a host,) but this is my first time participating in the CouchSurfing.org community. I consider myself a nomad by nature and have lived all over the United States throughout my adult life (never staying in one place for too long and often couchsurfing.) I have many references that I could provide to potential hosts.
Listening to and playing music, yoga, meditation, watching and making films, writing, hiking, singing, cooking, reading, tennis, skiing, socializing.
- film making
Música, películas y libros
Some films that I have seen recently and really enjoyed are "Samsara" (by Ron Fricke,) "The Intouchables" (French comedy,) "The Master" (Paul Thomas Anderson,) "Never Sorry" (the documentary about Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei,) "Living in the Material World," Martin Scorsese's documentary on George Harrison, and "Marley," Ziggy Marley's documentary on his father Bob. I tend to like small budget and independent films, foreign language films, and documentaries. I generally stay away from big Hollywood blockbusters and action movies.
Some books that I've read recently that I've really enjoyed have been Thich Nhat Hanh's "Fidelity," Deepak Chopra's stories of enlightenment, Michael Newton's books "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls," Wade Davis' "One River," and a book by Alakandana Devi called "Pilgrimage to the Mother," about her experiences traveling to India for the first time. The author who's been most influential on me is Daniel Quinn, whose books include "Ishmael," "The Story of B," "Beyond Civilization," "Providence," and others.
I love all kinds of music including Folk, Jazz, Rock, Classical, World, and Blues, just to name a few. Some artists that I like are Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Chan Marshall, Radiohead, Sean Hayes, Rahasya and Krishna Das.
Algo increíble que he hecho
I recently took a boat ride up the Amazon River in Peru and spent a night in the rainforest. Also met the great Indian saint, Amma, on my last day in Ireland.
Enseña, aprende, comparte
I am able to teach some basic writing skills (including story and character development, dialogue, grammar and editing,) English language, video shooting and editing, acting and filmmaking techniques. I am an amateur guitar player who could teach one how to play basic chords and songs.
I am interested in learning more about music, art, language, cooking, sports, history, religion and philosophy.
