About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am trying to learn about life and business of beer gardens and beer garden goers in the US

ABOUT ME

I have lived most of my life in Atlanta, GA in the US. I have lived a little in Florida and Japan.
I majored in Design in college and though I love the field, it is not my passion. I have worked as a designer for a big landscape architecture firm. I then did design research for a medium sized Usability company. For the past 2 years I have taught conversational English in Japan.
In March, I moved to Atlanta again with the goal of studying America's beer gardens and hopefully opening my own one day.
I have loved playing tennis since I was 9 years old. My favorite thing to do is relax outdoors with a friend or two and just talk over a few beers (thus the beer garden!). While I am alone, I like to play around with graphic design. I also have a fascination with Rubiks cubes and other puzzles.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that empathy is the key to happiness. We always get to live with our own personal perspective, but when you allow yourself to leave it and truly feel another's perspective, it will be painful and eye-opening and it will ultimately lead you to understanding. Lack of understanding seems to be the main cause for unrest... I think.

Interests

Tennis
Conversation, especially when the other person is an expert or particularly interested in any particular topic. I love to learn from people with experience and that have a passion.
Rubiks cubes
Design
Movies, especially documentaries
Hiking and being away from the constructed world
BUT, I enjoy the constructed world too, just in moderation (especially when I want to partake in it's Internet, movies and fast food!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Documentaries are a big passion for me, but I really love at least a few movies from most major genres.
I listen to Jazz when I want background music. I listen to hip-hop (The Roots, Outkast) and funk (P-Funk, Herbie Hancock) when I want to bob my head. I listen to classic rock, oldies and 80's when I want to sing.
Not so into country or pop music but it doesn't bother me.
I really like indie music too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My biggest love is nature. I loved hiking 10 hours on the island of Yukashima in Japan to see the giant Cedar forests with monkeys and deer everywhere and eventually see the oldest tree in Japan (Joumon-sugi). Seeing the giant Sequoias in Yosemite was amazing too. I love forests and trees.
