Chris lives in Liverpool.

He has lived in a lot of other places.

He loves to talk nonsense and breathe the crisp night air, light fires and swim at sunset.

Creative and compostable, this mammal enjoys tinkering, cycling, wandering and philandering. He is known to wear waistcoats, a beard, and a shiny pate - though currently lacks a pocket watch.

Works as a writer with a political / tech-based bent. Is fascinated by possible futures and hopes for a tech revolution to free the wobbly proletariat.

Current plan is to buy land in south Wales and establish a smallholding and apiary/meadery... to spend my days making food and wine and getting even scruffier.

Loves to read and write, to travel and make: mistakes, sculptures, edifices of nonsensical lexicology, uncomfortable silences, uncomfortable smells, people feel at ease, a difference in the world, bad jokes, amends

Seeks friendship and cohorts for adventures involving walks in the heather, camping in the nature, bottles of wine on the beach, and midnight adventures to the waterline/treeline/washing line.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I once lived in a cellar/laundry room for a couple of months. I still get nostalgic when I smell damp clothes. Grateful too...

Travelling is about the people you bounce with.

It's been a while since I last surfed... I turned up in Australia with a bicycle, a guitar, and fifty dollars. Couchsurfing made that work. ^^ I lived there for two years.

Music, Movies, and Books

Scifi, drama, cyberpunk, fantasy, arthouse, hopefully with a love story, but one that's in the background that you secretly hoping to flourish while everything else happens....classical to psytrance, jazz to ambient - funky monkeys, chilled eels.

Currently enjoying Yuval Noah Harari and Neil Stephenson

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived on a canal boat for a couple of years... travelled around quite a bit of the UK in her. Used to travel in the dark in the winter. Lights on, rain lashing, 65 feet of steel sweeping through the ghostly night.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk about the science and politics that I've been reading about. Share my excitement about some book or podcast.... can teach bike mechanics, bowlturning, meadmaking and probably coach swimming strokes.

If you visit Liverpool I can show you the things, or take you out further for a walk in the Peaks...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Enthusiasm, a nice wine, the washing up, a good walk.

Plumbing, electrical, carpentry... fixing stuff. I can change the battery/screen on your phone. ^^
