Overview
About Me
Quick story - a Couchsurfer/Freeloader who spent a month with us from Japan 17 years ago took my son on a day trip around Tokyo last month... because of the friendship we made so long ago. He remembered my son and was so happy to reconnect. THAT is what this community is about!
If you are in my area looking to use Couchsurfing as a way to relocate, please don’t contact me to host you.
Married to the love of my life for 34 years and have raised two extraordinary children. Navy Veteran that spent 7 years in college to be a history professor only to drop out and be a truck driver. I've been to 32 countries and 47 of the 48 contiguous United States. Enjoy showing people the amazing area we live in, and am curious to hear people's stories.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Before CouchSurfing was a thing there was Global Freeloading. Hosted many, many people from all over the world and have been hosted all over the world in return. Made some truly special friendships. My wife and I have enjoyed some tourist-style vacations but at our core we truly enjoy the connections made by Couchsurfing.
Interests
We live a few miles from the beach... no... one of the BEST beaches in the world! Huntington Beach - Surf City! People come from all over the world to visit this magical place and we are lucky enough to live close by. So we spend quite a bit of time near the water, in the water, on the water, under the water... you get the picture. Sailing is a passion, and some might say beer can't be a passion but they'd be wrong!

Music, Movies, and Books
Listening to BB King lament about How Blue Can You Get while writing this so I'm going to say I love the Blues! And Rock. And just about anything honestly. If it's got a good beat, and strong passion, I'm in.
Been addicted to Detective Novels lately but love to read just about anything. If I'm bored I'll read labels on grocery packages.
Movies... mmmm... Taken! Casablanca! Star Wars! Yeah, kinda like the rest of my interests it's a varied thing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Woke up this morning.
Mmm... this smacks of bragging so I'll relate something funny instead. I'm seventeen years old and my girlfriend looks me in the eye and says, "Do you ever think about getting married?" I reply, "You want to get married?" Meaning, did she someday want to be married to someone. Not, hey I want to marry you.
Here I am 34 years later because she answered immediately.... "Yes!"
Anything else amazing you want to know about me you'll have to buy me a beer first.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach? Okay, here goes - Live life every damn day as much as you possibly can. Love with every part of your soul and don't ever, EVER, regret opening up to someone. And laugh... sweet baby jesus people... none of us is getting out of this life alive, so we might as well have a great time laughing our asses off!
Anyone going to Australia I've got an awesome friend in Cairns who can save you a LOT of money on travel plans. Sorta his business, but he started it because he loved Couchsurfing the world so much.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Beer. Funny stories. And maybe even some ancient wisdom about not touching the burner on the stove while it's hot!
