About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Leave the World Better than I found it

ABOUT ME

I am 21 years old, and I am in my third year at Appalachian State. I was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains. I have interests in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, community, food, and localism. I have a banjo and a guitar. My favorite authors are Wendell Berry and Bill Bryson. I've worked at a progressive kids camp in the South San Francisco Bay for the last two summers. I've visited (with my own hard earned money) Portland, all along the coast from San Diego to San Francisco, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, London, Paris, Barcelona, Panama, Madrid, and Toronto since high school.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to host couch surfers because I love to travel and often end up in sketchy places under the sky, so this is great for us poor travelers!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never had a couch surfing experience but I look forward to hopefully couch surfing in DC while I'm attending Powershift, a 10,000 person activist conference!

Interests

I'm interested in interesting things, most of which are listed in the above "About Me" section.

  • dining

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For a week, I slept in a car in Toronto. The high was in the upper 20s and they had a record breaking snow storm that dumped 30 cm of snow overnight.

I walked up on some wild pigs in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.

Shooting stars never seize to be amazing.

I navigated my way into a pretty vast network of underground tunnels used to service steam ducts on my campus.

I've eaten squirrel before.

I started a 2000 person march after Obama's election in Boone with about 8 other guys.
